WALLA WALLA — Richland defeated Walla Walla High School 6-1 in a Mid-Columbia Conference boys tennis match at the Walla Walla Country Club Tuesday.
“Although scores wouldn’t indicate it, there were a lot of quality points played,” Wa-Hi coach Bryan Eggart said. “Many matches had multiple deuce games per set. Richland did a better job closing out big points and outplayed us in both singles and doubles.”
Malcolm Gabbard and Micah Rambo provided Wa-Hi’s only point of the day at No. 3 doubles, defeating Richland’s Cameron Heinrichson and Taylor Armstrong 6-3 and 6-4 for the point.
“I was proud of the way that the No. 3 doubles team played,” Eggart said. “This was Micah and Malcolm’s first match together and they communicated very well together.”
Wa-Hi (3-2) hosts Kamiakin Thursday at 3 p.m.
