Don’t be fooled by the name of one of Walla Walla’s bustling mobile vendors.
Dog House Grill, coming next week to First Avenue and Main Street with a regular schedule, has more than the quarter-pound angus dogs for which it is has become known over the last year, said owner Aaron Rebhahn.
In addition to 14 gourmet dogs on the menu, he’s also offering four types of lobster tacos, an array of flatbread sandwiches, burgers, cheese steaks and sides.
Starting next week, Rebhahn said the operation will be set up at Land Title Plaza from 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Dog House Grill is partnering with The Chocolate Shop to share some patio space and encourage visitors to patronize both places. This will be the food vendor’s second year making some rounds downtown. Rebhahn, who also has a full-time job for Food Services of America, said he plans to offer weekly specials.
The dogs can be served plain or with an array of dressings, from bacon-wrapped to the California, which has onions, avocados and tomatoes.
Rebhahn said the operation will be out at the Mill Creek Sportsplex this weekend, as part of a contract with the city for events at the venue. He’s also planning to serve up food at Three Rivers Winery for Friday events, the Downtown Farmers Market, which opens in just over a week and at the upcoming Food Truck Night hosted by Bacon & Eggs.
