Warriors sweep aside Knights; now 13-5 in East

WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla Community College’s baseball team improved to 13-5 in the NWAACC East Region with 10-0 and 4-1 victories over Wenatchee Valley at the Warrior Field Wednesday.

“We had another solid overall effort today with good pitching, excellent defense, and timely hitting,” WWCC coach Dave Meliah said.

The Warriors opened the twin bill by scoring four second-inning runs, and behind Drew Christina’s seven strong innings on the mound rolled to the shutout.

In the nightcap, WWCC plated a single run in the first, two in the second and another in the third.

In the opener, Christina gave up just one hit while striking out three before being relieved by Jarrod Turner.

The Warrior batters put up 20 hits, with Cody Poznanski, Jesse Houser, Trevor Jones and Ryan Rambur all smacking three.

Jarod Gonzales had a home run in the victory.

In the nightcap, Jesse Houser went eight innings, striking out nine Knights and giving up three hits before Jake Campeau came in.

Conner Holbrook had three hits in the game, including a triple.

The Warriors, 21-13 overall, head to Pasco to play Columbia Basin (10-8, 18-16) for an East Region twin bill at 1 p.m.
