Waitsburg-Prescott downs Touchet, 8-2


PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott scored early and often to win an 8-2 non-league baseball decision with Touchet here Thursday.

W-P plated a single first-inning run, and then scored three times in each the second and third to hold a 7-0 lead into the into the sixth inning. It’s final run came in the bottom of the sixth.

Touchet scored solo runs in the sixth and seventh to make it 8-2.

Nolen Allen, Riley Stevens and Chance Leroue all had two hits in W-P’s 11-hit outing.

Talen Larsen went four shutout innings on the mound for W-P, giving up just one hit for his fourth win of the season, before Devin Acevedo relieved him.

“(I was) pleased with the way we had command on the mound,” W-P coach Dustin Snedigar said. “Talen (Larsen) and Devin (Acevedo) both threw really well when there was pressure from Touchet.

“Other than a couple mental mistakes, I thought our defense played really well and handled the Indians’ pressure.”

W-P is now 12-3 on the season, 7-1 in Southeast 2B League play, and hosts DeSales at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Prescott.
