Earnie T. Guglielmelli, 88, of Walla Walla died peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. A 2007 mild heart attack was the onset of dementia for him.
He was well known as “Gug or Gugie” with the cigar. He had “Guglielmelli’s Eastgate Market,” a produce stand in Walla Walla on East Isaacs and later in Portland, “Tony’s Open Air Market” on Canyon Road, where pumpkins and fresh-cut Christmas trees were sold each year also.
Earnie (Ernest Natale) was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Walla Walla. He was the second of four sons to John and Rose (DeVon) Guglielmelli. He resided there until the early ‘70s, when he moved to Portland, and returned to Walla Walla in June of 2009.
He loved his family and friends, dancing, playing cards, golf, bowling, and had many trophies. He also loved dogs, his rose garden, Cadillacs and cigars. He was a member of the Elks for years.
