On behalf of the players and families of Mason Baseball, I would like to acknowledge the community of Walla Walla for hosting the State American Legion Baseball Championship Tournament. Our team had a fantastic experience in your city.
The tournament was organized flawlessly by Brian Kitamura and his army of volunteers, and a huge praise to Senior Legion Commissioner Bill Baker for all of his hard work.
We were so impressed with the friendliness and warmth of all of the people we met in Walla Walla. We were 400 miles from Aberdeen, but we felt at home.
Your community should be proud of its magnificent baseball facilities and parks. Your historic downtown area and Whitman College campus are beautiful. You have done an amazing job of retaining your identity and vitality in your business district.
The players on my team spent an afternoon at Rooks Park playing volleyball and having a picnic. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the quiet surroundings of the park.
A special shout out to Roy Elia for the awesome job he did as the game announcer and sports reporter.
I wish that Walla Walla could host every State Legion Tournament.
The only detail I would change is the game we lost to the Bruins on Wednesday evening. Congratulations to Jason Parsons and all of the Bruins players for winning the State Championship. They won with class.
We had very memorable week of baseball.
