Lemon rind drink has track record as fever killer

I call it the “Lemon/Blueberry Drink.”

It has been my answer to antibiotics for my family and several hundred of my patients and students. It is a fact that antibiotics are becoming ineffective because of their overuse, but I have used this unique lemon drink for acute infections for more than 40 years.

It is time to share it.

It started when my wife gave birth to our second child. After the delivery she developed a severe infection. They tested her and called the organism “hospital staphylococcus.”

They had no antibiotic to control it. I rejected the plan they proposed, which involved giving very strong antibiotics to her and the baby. I decided to discharge her and our baby from the hospital. Her fever at that time was 104.5 degrees F.

When we arrived at home I was “inspired” to feed my wife the white rind of lemons. I blended the rinds of several lemons with water and gave it to her with 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C. I repeated this every hour from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and during that time her fever dropped a full 4 degrees to 100.5.

After a good night’s sleep, she awoke next morning with a temperature of 99.5 degrees and we continued the drink every three hours. By the end of that second day she was entirely normal.

I have used the lemon drink successfully for many years with family, patients and students since then with no failures and no side effects.

I do not recommend you totally disregard antibiotics if needed — they do save lives — but I suggest you to use them only for life-threatening situations.

Through the years we have refined the “drink” formula by adding blueberries. I stand to gain nothing by your using this and you have nothing to lose by trying it, except for the cost of several lemons and some blueberries.

There apparently is a factor in the lemon rind that enhances our immune systems. I have tried it with oranges, tangerines grapefruit and pure pectin, but they do not work.

In refining this procedure, we have found that a dose of one-third of a blended lemon rind every three hours with about 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C achieves results. As a matter of taste, the lemon juice may or may not be included; it is the rind that is important and that dosages are given every three hours.

Here is the recipe:

Lemon/Blueberry Drink

1 thick rind lemon

1 cup blueberries (frozen or fresh)

Welch’s frozen purple grape juice concentrate (no sugar added.)

2 cups water or orange juice

Peel off the outer yellow from lemon and discard it. Leave as much of the white rind as possible. Slice lemon into smaller pieces and put into a blender, seeds, rind and all.

Put blueberries into blender.

Put approximately one inch (from the can) of the frozen grape juice concentrate into blender

Add two cups of water or orange juice

Blend very thoroughly. Makes approximately three adult doses (1/3 lemon per dose). Each dose should be taken with vitamin C as prescribed.
