I was recently notified that a family member had not been heard from since July of this year. As the family member lived in Miami, the Miami Police Department was contacted but its response was underwhelming.
I contacted Walla Walla County Undersheriff Eddie Freyer for any advice and guidance he had on how to proceed. To my amazement and joy, Eddie went into action by taking notes and giving me instruction on the information that he needed to begin an investigation.
Eddie entered the details into the missing person’s database and suggested filing a missing persons report here in Walla Walla instead of relying on the Miami Police Department.
He advised of an investigative company led by former FBI agents who made arrangements with the family to have a person on the ground in Miami asking questions and knocking on doors. Eddie stayed in constant contact with the family and our despair over the disappearance turned to one of hope and extreme gratitude, thanks to Eddie’s eagerness to help find our loved one.
Within the past few weeks, our family member was found. We are extremely grateful for the care and attention Eddie gave to this investigation.
Eddie Freyer went above and beyond the call of duty and should be highly commended for doing so. He is a valued member of the Sheriff’s Office.
