Macy's stepping up hours for late-late-night shoppers

It’s a shopping schedule perfect for procrastinators and night owls.

Macy’s is extending its schedule into the wee hours over the next few days. The downtown retailer, 54 E. Main St., will operate 7 a.m.-2 a.m. starting today and running through Monday. On Tuesday — Christmas Eve — the store will operate 7 a.m.-6 p.m.

The change is taking place to differing degrees at Macy’s stores across the country. Macy’s has referred to it as “the gift of extra time.” In 37 stores in select cities across the country, Macy’s stores are staying open 24 hours four days in a row until Christmas Eve. That customer service initiative launched in 2006 and has grown into a holiday tradition for the New York-based retailer.
