ASOTIN — DeSales ended its run to another Southeast 2B League title successfully here Saturday night with a 45-38 victory over the host Panthers.

Allison Wujek led the Irish with 14 points and Ashlyn Lyons added 11.

“We hadn’t won a regular-season game at Asotin in four years,” DeSales coach Tim Duncan said. “It was nice to get this one.”

DeSales led 22-13 at halftime.

“We got a lot of good looks and we had a lot of shots that didn’t go down,” Duncan said. “We were executing well.”

Most of the lead evaporated in the third quarter when the Panthers outscored the Irish 15-8, but a solid final period pulled DeSales through, Duncan said.

“They put a lot of pressure on us in the half court and we didn’t respond,” Duncan said of the third quarter. “In the fourth quarter, we stepped up and made some plays. Ashlyn (Lyons), Allison, and Emily Baumgart stepped up big.”

The Irish, who ended up 9-1 in league and are now 16-4 overall, will next compete on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in a sub-regional playoff game in Dayton.
