PENDLETON — Two women who will be part of this year’s Pendleton Round-Up festivities were introduced to the public Saturday.
Anna Harris and Carina Vasquez-Minthorn will travel throughout the West promoting the Happy Canyon Night Show to be held Sept. 11-14 in Pendleton.
Harris, 19, is the daughter of Stuart and Deborah Harris of Pendleton. She attends Blue Mountain Community College and plans to transfer to a four-year college to study medicine. At Pendleton High School, she was an outdoor school counselor for three years. Her interests include riding and training horses, cultural activities, beadwork, charcoal drawing and reading.
Vasquez-Minthorn, 21, is the daughter of Sylvia Minthorn of Pendleton and Lorenzo Vasquez of Madras. She also attends Blue Mountain Community College and is an online student at Everest University. In addition she is employed at Wildhorse Resort & Casino. After college she hopes to help her community by working with troubled teens and families as a social worker or a youth probation officer.
Both Harris and Vasquez-Minthorn are enrolled members of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
