Wa-Hi’s Reardon wins 220 at Clearwater

LEWISTON — Wa-Hi’s Logan Reardon wrestled his way to the 220-pound championship here in the two-day Clearwater Classic wrestling tournament.

Reardon won his first four matches by pin and decisioned a Cheney wrestler 6-3 in the championship final. Reardon ran his season record to 27-2 with his perfect 4-0 tournament run.

The Blue Devils finished sixth in the 21-team tournament that drew squads from Washington and Idaho. Lewiston captured the team title.

Wa-Hi took home two third-place ribbons as Quinn Piver was third at heavyweight and Noe Gonzalez third at 120.

Gonzalez dropped his first match and roared back to win five in a row to take a ribbon.

“It’s pretty special to win five in a row,” Wa-Hi coach Dallas Jones said. “He had a tough weight class. I’m proud of him, as that doesn’t happen often.”

Zachary Anderson and Zane Henderson were the other two Wa-Hi placers. Anderson took sixth at 152 and Henderson was sixth at 182.

The Blue Devils had five other wrestlers compete, but no other placers.

“We are competing at a higher level,” Jones said. “We are starting to believe and compete more consistently. It was a tough tourney. We saw some good things and have to keep it going.”
