Pancake and waffle fundraiser slated Feb. 3

MILTON-FREEWATER — The Stateline Adventist Friendship Center, 53730 Stateline Road, will host an all-you-can-eat pancake and waffle breakfast, 8-10 a.m. Feb. 3.

First Presbyterian Church to begin Alpha course Feb. 6

WALLA WALLA — The First Presbyterian Church, 325 S. First Ave., will begin the Alpha course, starting at 6 p.m. Feb. 6.

The Alpha course covers the basics of Christianity. It addresses questions such as: Who is Jesus? Why did he die? Why and how do I pray? Why and how should I read the Bible? Is there more to life than this? How can I make the most of the rest of my life?

The course will be 11 weeks, except spring break and Holy Week, with a day-long getaway in the middle. Each week, participants will gather for about two hours; sharing an informal meal, watching a DVD on how Christianity approaches the question at hand, then breaking for discussion. There is no charge and child care is available.

St. Paul’s Episcopal to host First Thursday Concert Feb. 7

WALLA WALLA — The First Thursday Concert at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 323 Catherine St., will feature jazz pianist Gary Hemenway of the Whitman College Music Department from 12:15-12:50 p.m. on Feb. 7.

The concert is free, but donations will be given to the Friends of Children of Walla Walla, the charity of the performers’ choice.

Cowboy Church to hold potluck breakfast Feb. 10

WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla Valley Cowboy Church will hold a special potluck breakfast meeting Feb. 10 at the Community Building at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds.

The meet and greet will start at 8:30 a.m., breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. and a worship service will follow. Participants should bring a breakfast dish to share.

Services at Garrison Middle School Gym, 906 Chase St. will resume Feb. 17.
