ECHO, Ore. (AP) — The Eastern Oregon town of Echo, population 715, is short 15 American flags stolen earlier this week from Main Street.
City Administrator Diane Berry says it’s likely they were stolen at night — there aren’t any street lights.
The East Oregonian reported the city kept the flags on display after the Fourth of July because it was time for the all-school and all-city reunion held every five years.
Berry wonders whether someone was trying to send the city a message and says she “can’t imagine why a mature person would conceive of doing that.”
