Annie was born Nov. 16, 1909, in Cornation, Alberta, Canada. She was the daughter of Ed and Dena Checkel LeFore. Her parents immigrated to Canada from Russia and after Annie was born they came to the United States.

She married Carlton Otto on Nov. 4, 1936. She and her husband owned and operated several business’s in the area. After the death of her husband on April 28, 1965, she continued as president of Miller Supply for many years. As a longtime area resident, she was very active and involved with many projects. She was the type of person who saw a need and turned that into one of her projects. In 1991 she organized a display of photographs at the Bank of Commerce for the local service personnel who were serving during Desert Storm. She established a weekly blood pressure check and helped to operate it. She also headed volunteer efforts to assist worldwide missionaries financially, and she also visited them overseas in person. Annie had been active as a Chamber of Commerce volunteer, worked with the Crop Walk, Woman’s Improvement Club, Church Women United, Red Cross Blood Drawing, United Way, American Cancer Society, Frazier Farmstead Museum and was a member of the Milton Seventh-day Adventist Church. Annie received Woman of the Year in 1988 and was also honored as Golden Pioneer in 1998. She was known for her excellent cooking by family and friends and at one time was known in town as the “Muffin Lady.”

She is survived by her sister, Darlene Hagstrom of College Place. She was preceded in death by her son, Doug LeFore; along with her siblings.
