We are writing out of concern for the issues and needs of Walla Walla High School.
The school bonds failed, which is unfortunate for the students. However, the message was a plea to go back to the drawing board. It is easy to just spend the money of our hardworking taxpayers. Why can’t those in charge find ways to renovate, upgrade the school, instead of just “go for broke” and spend, spend!
We need to remember that taxpayers honestly want our students to get a quality education and be able to be in a safe and warm school. However, why can’t those in charge of our money consider opportunities for energy discounts, less expensive upgrades, etc. — new windows, solar panels, insulation, possibly enclose the entry ways, and find other smart ways to upgrade and improve the school, while respecting those who are helping to pay for this.
Nowadays, there are a number of options for upgrades out there.
DeSales is upgrading its school with new insulation, windows, etc. Walla Walla Community College is upgrading its facility with some solar facilities. Just doesn’t seem like rocket science, but guess we are simple people.
