Norbert and Debora Rossi will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary today.

They wed on June 2, 1973, in Vandergrift, Pa., Debora’s maiden name is Shoop.

Norbert has been a choral music educator for 39 years.

His career has taken him to the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, Mont., Bloomfield, Conn., Cut Bank and Columbia Falls, Mont.

He teaches at Walla Walla High School. He has been an adjudicator for many music festivals, and has had three of his original choral works published.

Norbert enjoys fly fishing and hiking into the mountain lakes of Montana. He ties flies in the winter and uses them in the summer to catch trout. He also enjoys birding and reading historical works.

Debora was a para-educator for 13 years with Title I and special education. She earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2004 from Washington State University and taught in Walla Walla for five years before deciding to write a children’s book, “Millie’s Shoes,” which was published last December by Tate Publishing. She works in the Testing Lab at Walla Walla Community College.

Debora loves her grandchildren and her three dogs.

Her hobbies are watercolor painting, walking and reading.

The couple have a daughter, Auralee Grubb of Walla Walla, and a son, Paul Rossi of Missoula, Mont. and two grandchildren.
