According to an investigation done by public radio in cooperation with The Associated Press, Sen. Mike Hewitt was one of the top five recipients of lobbyist entertainment money in Washington state.
Expense report records show he and the other four allowed lobbyists to pay for food and drinks at events while also accepting $90 per day additional living expenses funded by taxpayers.
While accepting gifts meant to influence their vote is not allowed, it is acceptable for lawmakers to receive free food and drinks, on an “infrequent” basis only, and if the event relates to the duties of their office.
Another reason for us to vote against Hewitt’s re-election.
