How will organizers follow up last year’s inaugural Sweet Onion Restaurant Week? With a second helping, of course.
The Walla Walla Sweet Onion Marketing Committee is seeking participants for its second annual event July 13-21.
The event is a weeklong opportunity to showcase food and highlight the best Walla Walla Sweet Onion-centric creations, organizers say.
Last year’s Restaurant Week ended up a “huge” success, said Walla Walla Sweet Onion Festival Director Kathy Fry-Tommald.
“We really want this festival to be an annual highlight for the region and a showcase of the Valley’s signature crop,” she said in an announcement. Participation for the restaurants comes with a $200 fee. Money raised through participation fees will be pooled to promote the week and the restaurants via media buys coordinated through the Walla Walla Sweet Onion Marketing Committee. Every dollar spent will be matched at least 100 percent by media partners.
The annual Walla Walla Sweet Onion Festival will be downtown July 14 and 15. Centered around the Downtown Farmers Market, it will feature numerous events, including a Sweet Onion Fun Run, live kitchen demonstrations, a Kids Zone and a festival concert series.
