WALLA WALLA — Country artist Craig Morgan will headline this year’s Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days concert with the band Gloriana opening the event.
Fair officials announced this year’s concert performers Thursday night at the annual preview dinner at the fairgrounds. Along with the headliner acts, this year’s fair royalty were introduced and Pam and Dallas Thompson were named as the Fair and Frontier Days parade marshals.
Morgan has been a mainstay on the country music charts with works that include 14 Top Ten hits. His top-selling songs include “Redneck Yacht Club,” “Almost Home,” “That’s What I Love About Sunday” and “Tough.”
Since beginning his career more than a decade ago, Morgan has toured nationally and internationally and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2008. His new album is “This Ole Boy.”
Opening for Morgan will be the band Gloriana, a country trio of brothers Tom and Mike Gossin and Rachel Reinert that came together in 2008.
The band’s 2009 self-titled debut album soared to No. 2 on the Billboard Country Albums chart propelled by the gold-certified single “Wild At Heart.” The group spent two years on the road with Taylor Swift and won an American Music Award for Breakthrough Artist and in 2010 was named the American Country Music association’s top new vocal group.
This year’s fair theme is “Walla Walla Fair — See You There.” The fair will open Aug. 28 and run through Sept. 1. Morgan and Gloriana will perform starting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 28 at the fairgrounds.
