Pomeroy woman named fair queen

WALLA WALLA — Pomeroy resident Kindall Cooper was named queen of this year’s Walla Walla Fair and Frontier Days Thursday.

Along with Cooper, Beka Adams and Kendra Torrey were named as princesses at the annual fair preview dinner at the fairgrounds.

Cooper is the daughter of Laura Cooper and a 2012 graduate of Pomeroy High School. She attends Walla Walla Community College and is pursuing a degree in agriculture education.

While in high school, Cooper was an active member of the Pomeroy FFA chapter and served as chapter president in her senior year as well as Washington State District VI vice president. She also competed in events including livestock judging, prepared public speaking, soils judging, advanced parliamentary procedure, job interview, and marketing.

Cooper will be riding her paint gelding in this year’s rodeo events.

Adams is the daughter of Ann and Lanny Adams of Waitsburg. She is a junior at Waitsburg High School and is an avid horse rider. Adams has competed actively at the Walla Walla Fair, showing goats, swine, chickens, and horses through 4-H, Open Class, and FFA. Adams has been a member of Palouse River Ropers Association of Colfax, Milton-Freewater Pioneer Posse, Valley Girls Barrel Racing Association, Saddles-n-Spurs 4-H, and Waitsburg FFA. She competes widely in barrel racing in addition to other rodeo events.

Adams rides Moose, her 9-year-old appendix quarter horse she has trained and who is her best friend.

Torrey is the daughter of Gary and Shelly Torrey and sister to three brothers. She is a senior attending Connections Academy online school.

A resident of the Walla Walla Valley since her family moved here when she was 11 years old, Torrey has also maintained a lifelong passion for horses and riding. Along with horsemanship, Torrey has been active in 4-H where she was introduced to public speaking and community service.

In 2010 and 2011, Torrey tried out and was chosen to be a Pioneer Posse Princess. She is currently riding Sis, a buckskin mare.
