WALLA WALLA — Whitman College hosted its second annual youth science fair Saturday at Cordiner Hall. The event drew entries from middle and high school students throughout the region.
Science Outreach Coordinator Mary Burt said this year’s event led to positive mentoring relationships. A volunteer Whitman student worked with a Milton-Freewater student to develop a project in neurobiology. Whitman students also spent lunch hours working with groups of students in College Place. Dr. Joe Wujek worked with a middle-school student on building a giant magnet out of a car battery.
Prizes included an overall grand prize of an iPad mini with case, microscope and microscopic life kit to the top entry in middle and high school levels.
