Marilyn is set to become an honorary Walla Wallan.
In a ceremony next week Walla Walla Mayor Jim Barrow will grant honorary citizen status to Sunny Thompson, the actress who portrays Marilyn Monroe in the one-woman performance returning to the Gesa Power House Theatre.
The event takes place Tuesday at 5 p.m. at the Fireside Lounge at the Marcus Whitman Hotel & Conference Center. Thompson will meet the mayor for the presentation, then sign autographs, pose for photos and chat with fans. Two seats for the March 20 opening night performance will be given away during the event.
The gesture is a celebration of the show, “Marilyn: Forever Blonde!” which packed the theater during a run last year and returns March 20-30. The show is a celebration of the blonde bombshell’s life and accomplishments expressed through her own words and music.
