WALLA WALLA — The Audubon Society’s March public meeting will be held 7-9 p.m.on Thursday at Whitman College, Hall of Science, Room 151.
The topic is the environmental controversy over protecting endangered salmon species from birds that feed on them .
Two specialists from the Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will describe their work on a management plan to address that issue.
Their illustrated presentation will describe research on the effects of bird predators, such as gulls, terns and cormorants, on fisheries as well as wild salmon populations. It will be followed by a question-and-answer period.
The program will be free and open to the public. Parking is available next to the building.
