W-P romps past T-O-R in doubleheader

PRESCOTT — Waitsburg-Prescott’s Jennifer Nichols led her high school softball team to two league-opening victories here Saturday, by pitching one complete-game 3-1 victory and starting in the other 15-2 romp.

Samantha Moss had two hits including a home run in the landslide first game.

Cather Chelsea Brannock had four hits in the two games combined.

“Fortunately, we picked a good day to play well,” W-P coach Angie Potts said. “We gave up some hits and some of them were bunts by the quicker girls. We got lead runners out on fielder’s choices and caught some trying to steal. Our offense showed up today. We put both sides of the game together.”

W-P plays at Touchet Tuesday at 4 p.m. in a single game.
