Mac-Hi sweeps Dufur in final games before GOL play

MILTON-FREEWATER — McLoughlin High School took another doubleheader sweep to improve its record to 7-1 going into its Greater Oregon League opener this weekend.

Mac-Hi took two from Dufur Saturday behind strong pitching from starters Dylan Shuler and Chase Copenhaver, 8-2 and 8-3.

Shuler pitched a complete game for the opener and backed it up with two-run home run in the second inning. He had four hits in the twin bill.

Hunter Yensen added three hits in the two games including a double.

“Our batters are taking good approaches at the plate and hitting the ball well,” Mac-Hi coach Mike Garcia said. “Our pitchers are locating well and going deep into ball games. So far so good. Hopefully it will all continue in a tough upcoming GOL schedule.”

The Pioneers play in LaGrande Saturday in a doubleheader at noon.
