Touchet smacks around Gar-Pal in twin bill

TOUCHET — Touchet High School reigned supreme here Friday afternoon, smacking Garfield-Palouse 13-0 and 12-3 a pair of baseball games.

Touchet (5-3 overall, 2-2 league) knocked Gar-Pal pitching around for 19 hits and 25 runs.

“The hits and RBIs were spread out up and down the lineup,” Touchet coach Tim McKeown said. “We are starting to be patient again, looking for our pitch and putting in it play. That is what it is all about.”

Colter McKeown led the charge with a double, triple, single and three RBIs. Elias Martinez had two singles and contributed 3 RBIs. Jose Martinez had two doubles and four hits total. Damian Goucher had three RBIs.

Touchet’s pitchers completed a two-hit shutout in game one and allowed just three runs on six hits in game two.

“Our pitching was really on today,” McKeown said. “Corey Ochoa threw 50 percent first-pitch strikes on the day and Damian Goucher did especially well in game two. He threw 49 pitches, 43 for strikes. I’m real happy going into spring break with our pitching and hitting.”

The Indians play again Tuesday, April 9, at home at 4 p.m. against Tri-Cities Prep.
