Former Walla Walla resident Benjamin R. Dobbins, 39, died in Las Vegas on April 25, 2013, after a long illness. Private inurnment services will be in the Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla. Benjamin was born Jan. 24, 1974, in Walla Walla. His parents are Mike and Karen Dobbins. As a young person he enjoyed participating in the Walla Walla Community College Children’s Summer Theatre and playing soccer. He spent one year as an exchange student to Japan and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1992.
He attended WWCC and was especially close to drama teacher Joanne Rassmussen. He worked at Jacobi’s Café for many years. In 1994, he married Danniell Naumann in Walla Walla. They had one daughter, Rachel, in 1995. After 9/11, Ben joined the TSA to work airport security at the Walla Walla Regional Airport. In 2004, he married Jennifer deMille in Las Vegas. Together they had one daughter, Natalie. Ben earned an accounting degree and operated his own bookkeeping and tax preparation service, Counting House, in Las Vegas. He was an avid movie buff.
Ben is survived by his daughters, Rachel Naumann of Walla Walla and Natalie Dobbins of Las Vegas; his parents, Mike and Karen Dobbins of Walla Walla; one brother, Jeff (Catherine) Dobbins also of Walla Walla; and two nephews, Cody Dobbins and Shane Dobbins.
