WALLA WALLA — The Walla Walla High School boys tennis team thumped Chiawana, 6-1, here Tuesday in Mid-Columbia Conference action.
“In singles especially, we played some close sets,” Wa-Hi coach Bryan Eggart said. “Zach Anderson had a nice win over Manuel Mendoza, who has been very good all year. It was a quality win for Zach and a quality win for Connor Christensen over Javan Olin.”
Nick Fuller also beat Alejandro Rojas in no. 4 singles, 6-0 and 6-3.
“The best play of the day was by Nick Fuller,” Eggart said. “He was the most dominant in his match, in my opinion.”
Wa-Hi won three of the four singles matches.
In doubles, Wa-Hi won all three matches.
“In doubles, all three teams were extremely aggressive,” Eggart said. “They put a lot of pressure on the net and I was real proud of that effort as well.”
Wa-Hi (5-2 Mid-Columbia Conference) sits in sole possession of second place in the MCC and plays Thursday at Kennewick at 4 p.m.
District tournament play is May 10-11 at a locale to be determined.
