A robust crop of vendors is expected to open the inaugural weekend of the Downtown Farmers Market.
Growers, food vendors and artisans will kick off the season opening of the 2013 market at Fourth Avenue and Main Street this weekend, said market Manager Cheryl Thyken.
She said growers will have their early crops, including asparagus and spring onions. Other vendors will return with everything from handmade soaps to woodwork and other items. More than 70 vendors have signed on to be part of the 2013 market, Thyken said.
Hours of operation are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Thyken said the market will have a slightly different look this year with the addition of tables and chairs behind the pavilion. The setup is designed to entice people to linger and enjoy the event and live music.
Saturday’s performer will be Mike Wagoner. Johnny NoLand will perform Sunday. The market will run May through October.
