WALLA WALLA — DeSales High School dominated every aspect of the game in a Southeast 2B twin bill against last-place St.John-Endicott/LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus Saturday, sweeping the athletic combine 14-0 and 19-0 in a pair of mercy-rule routs.
Irish pitchers allowed just one hit on the day.
Sophomore Cameron Richman walked zero and struck out 11 in the first game in four innings of work. Connor Richard pitched the fifth.
Pitchers Adam Eskil and Logan Hoeft combined for the third DeSales’ no-hitter on the season in game two. Only two St.J-E/L-W/K batters reached base, both on walks.
And the Irish batters combined for 22 hits and 33 runs in the twin bill.
“It was good performance by a lot of our younger kids,” DeSales assistant coach Clint Hale said. “The kids really stepped up. The pitchers were dominant and kept the ball down without walking a lot people. That is important to us.”
The Irish (16-2 overall, 11-1 SE2B) have guaranteed a ticket to regionals and will play a seeding game Saturday at 2 p.m. at Borleske Stadium against Asotin.
DeSales will first play Mac-Hi at Ray Lane Field at 4 p.m. Tuesday to conclude the regular season.
