TigerScots rout Echo-Stanfield

ECHO — Weston-McEwen High School pounded out 17 hits Tuesday as it routed Echo-Stanfield 13-3 in a Special District 5 softball game.

TigerScot starting pitcher Molly von Borstel struggled to find the strike zone and was pulled with one out gone in the second inning, but her bat didn’t struggle as she went 4-for-5 at the plate with two doubles and four RBI, including a three-RBI double in the sixth inning that she legged out for a round-tripper.

“She was just struggling a little bit out there, and even though she left the game there, she sure led with her bat,” W-M coach Jeff Griggs said. “She got it done on offense and Jessi (Lambert, a freshman) got it done in the circle.”

But von Borstel was far from the only TigerScot with a hot bat.

Taylor Entze with 3-for-3 with three RBI, Natalie Arnold notched a pair of hits, Taryn Coffman scored a pair of hits and Keegan Shepard got two hits to round out W-M’s multiple-hitters.

“It was a great team win,” Griggs said. “It was great to see the girls bring their bats. We were much more aggressive at the plate and that was a key to our success.”

With the win the TigerScots are still one game back from Irrigon and must sweep the Knights Saturday to move into second place in Special District 5 play. First pitch is at 11 a.m.
