WALLA WALLA — Two Whitman women’s tennis players, Courtney Lawless and Alyssa Roberg, are NCAA selections for the Women’s Tennis Individual Championships in Kalamazoo, Mich., May 23-25.
Lawless will be competing in the singles field and will partner with Roberg in doubles.
Participants are chosen by their ranking and level of their competition throughout the season.
In the most recent International Tennis Association (ITA) rankings released on May 2, Lawless was No. 2 in the West Region in singles, compiling a regular season record of 18-2 while playing at the No. 1 spot.
Roberg is a four-time All-NWC First Teamer, including the 2012 conference Player of the Year, and teamed with Lawless to tally a 16-4 overall mark , going undefeated in conference (12-0).
Although the field has been announced, the actual pairings will not be revealed until the night before the tournament at the annual banquet.
Lawless and Roberg are preparing with their teammates for the first round NCAA Tournament match Friday in Claremont, Calif., at 2 p.m.
