Stabbing victim arrested on fugitive warrants

WALLA WALLA – The 27-year-old man who was stabbed last week during an altercation near Stateline Road in Milton-Freewater was arrested Saturday after his release from Providence St. Mary Medical Center.

According to Walla Walla Police, Benjamin Beliz, Jr., 342 N.W. B. St, College Place, was arrested on investigation of two Umatilla County fugitive warrants. He was booked at the Walla Walla County Jail on $75,000 bail pending extradition, which Beliz waived this morning.

Beliz had undergone surgery for wounds suffered in an assault May 5 near the former Oasis Restaurant, authorities said.

Jimmy W. Gore, 51, was arrested for alleged during an investigation of the assault and remains in custody at the County Jail on investigation of possession of methamphetamine, second degree malicious mischief, and fugitive from justice. Umatilla County authorities as of today had not charged him in that county for the alleged assault.ocuments presented in court this morning show the Umatilla County warrants for Beliz were for failure to appear in court for initial charges of first-degree burglary, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and malicious mischief.
