Waterbrook Winery is plunging into its fifth annual Fly Fishing Day this weekend.
Casters of all abilities are invited to gather at the winery Saturday for a family-friendly day of fly fishing for rainbow trout on the pond at 10518 West U.S. Highway 12.
The event includes fly-tying instruction, fly-casting classes, Dutch oven campfire cooking by John Spain, and a friendly competition led by the event sponsors, the Walla Walla Fly Fishers Club. Admission is free to all. All ages are welcome.
Tacos from chef Maria Carmona will be available for purchase as will wines from Waterbrook’s tasting room. Spain will cook a four-course meal over open campfires, using Waterbrook wine. Troutwater Guide Service from Ellensburg and Cle Elum will be onsite to talk about the guide services on their favorite local rivers and streams. Members of the Walla Walla Fly Fishers Club will answer questions, lead fly-tying techniques and hold casting lessons. For more information, call 522-1262.
