Sustainable Living Center to kick off monthly workshop series


A workshop this month on solar photo voltaic energy generation and solar investment strategies will kick off a series of monthly public workshops from the Sustainable Living Center.

From now through May the center will run a series of presentations centered on sustainable topics.

The first takes place next Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Water and Environmental Center at Walla Walla Community College.

Jonathan Lewis of Hire Electric Inc. will present the history and development of solar electric generation technology and why it makes sense for homeowners today. Based out of The Dalles, Hire Electric has installed various residential solar arrays in the Walla Walla Valley and works to help clients make sound decisions about their solar investment.

He’ll be joined by Frederic Liebrand and Joe Deets, who will present on solar investment strategies. Liebrand is a physics professor at Walla Walla University and has promoted community solar throughout the community. Deets is the president of Community Energy Solutions on Bainbridge Island.

Registration is not required for the free workshop.
