POMEROY — In its homecoming match, the Pomeroy volleyball team rebounded from an opening-set loss with a five-set win against Colton here Tuesday.
After Pomeroy fell 25-21, the Pirates (8-3, 1-0) responded with back-to-back set wins, 25-16, 25-19. The Wildcats took the fourth set, 25-20, before Pomeroy sealed it with a 15-10 win in the decisive fifth set.
Pomeroy head coach Bruce Crossfield called the match a “breakthrough win” for his squad.
Mackenzie Monahan led the team with 22 kills and five blocks. Savannah Ruark added 15 kills and six blocks.
Ireland Mayfield racked up a team-high 32 assists and McKenzie Uto was 19-of-19 serving. Kacey Halbert added 15 digs and three aces for the Pirates.
Pomeroy faces Tekoa-Oakesdale Thursday.
