WALLA WALLA — Southridge won a Mid-Columbia Conference volleyball match over Walla Walla High in the Blue Devil gym Thursday night.

The Suns won 25-15, 25-17, 25-16.

“This was the hardest I have seen our girls play,” Wa-Hi assistant coach Kim McDaniels said. “No matter the score, they continued to fight and work as a team to try and get a ‘W.’ What killed us were our unforced errors. We hit too many balls into the net or out of bounds.

“I think this game was a big cornerstone for the girls,” she said. “They now realize how talented we are as a team and how we deserve to consistently compete at this high level. Our record (2-5 in MCC play) does not give us that credit.”

Kennedy Yonts led the Blue Devils with five blocks.

Madi Doepker recorded nine digs and 10 kills, Katie Green dished out 10 assists and Reece Carma had seven kills.

“I would have liked the win, but I am happy we competed at such a high level and gave the No. 1 team in the state (in Class 3A) a run for their money,” McDaniels said.

The Blue Devils head to Hanford at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
