U-B’s treatment of UW football questioned

I graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1971 and the University of Washington in 1976.

I live and work out of state. I was recently in Walla Walla visiting my parents.

The University of Washington (go dawgs!) and Washington State University both played and beat two Idaho football teams. Neither team played by a Washington school was a major opponent.

From a recent University of Washington directory I count around 70 alumni who reside in Walla Walla County. More recently, the Union-Bulletin ran an article naming around 20 UW students from Walla Walla County towns who had achieved a 3.5 or greater GPA and were named to the honor roll.

On the Sunday following the two football games I eagerly opened the paper and thumbed to the sports section. The WSU-Idaho game was reported on the front page of the sports section.

I finally found the article that reported the UW-Idaho State game buried back on the sixth, and almost last, page of the sports section.

You have to wonder why there is such disparate treatment of the University of Washington and us loyal alumni.
