Asotin rallies after opening-set loss

ASOTIN — After taking the first set, the DeSales volleyball team dropped the next three, as Asotin rolled to a four-set victory here Tuesday.

The Irish (2-4 in the Southeast 2B Conference) took the first set 26-24, before the Panthers stormed back, 25-17, 25-16, 25-22.

DeSales head coach Hailee Rogers said her squad did a lot of great things in the loss.

“They competed well and put up a good fight,” Rogers said. “I continue to see tremendous growth and improvement, and I can’t wait to see our team put together a complete game.”

Teresa Acock led the Irish with 32 digs. Claire Conley finished with six kills, four blocks and went a perfect 12-of-12 serving. Hannah Leahy went 11-of-12 serving with five kills and eight digs.

Renee Roach finished the match 15-of-16 serving with eight digs and two kills.

DeSales hosts Walla Walla Valley Academy for its “Pink” game on Thursday. All proceeds raised go to the Walla Walla St. Mary’s Cancer Center.

“Come watch us Dig Pink and support breast cancer awareness,” Rogers said.
