COLLEGE PLACE — The Walla Walla Valley Academy volleyball team overcame its serving struggles to defeat Waitsburg-Prescott in four sets, here Tuesday.

Knights’ head coach Scott Schafer said WWVA was able to bounce back from early miscues to win the match. WWVA won the first two sets, 25-18, 25-20, before dropping the third set, 25-19.

In the fourth set, W-P led 19-13, before the Knights rallied to win, 25-22.

“There wasn’t a lot of energy early on,” Schafer said. “We were struggling to find our rhythm. Our serving was still suspect at times and we just seemed to be slow.”

Schafer said Hope Heaton played a major role in the fourth set, as she finished the match with four blocks.

“She had some key blocks in that fourth set,” Schafer said. “That just really helped push us over the edge when we were down. I was just really impressed with how she stood in there.”

Amy Arnzen led WWVA with 18 kills and Hannah Woolever and Jocelyn Magdelano each chipped in five digs. Rylee Sutton dished out a team-high 27 assists and went 9-of-11 serving with four aces.

The Knights head to DeSales Thursday.
