PIrates down Indians in Southeast 1B matchup

TOUCHET — The Pomeroy High School volleyball team downed Touchet in straight sets, 25-13, 25-15, 25-11, here Thursday.

Pomeroy improved to 3-0 in Southeast 1B League play and 14-4 overall during Touchet’s senior night and homecoming.

“(I) was pleased that we kept our focus the entire match and are improving at doing the little things better,” Pomeroy head coach Bruce Crossfield said.

Mackenzie Monahan led the Pirates with 11 kills and four blocks. Teammate Ireland Mayfield dished out 15 assists and Kacey Halbert finished with a team-high eight digs.

Indians head coach April Miller said her team played with heart and hustle, but Pomeroy proved to be too much.

Cierra McKeown went 9-for-9 serving with four aces and seven kills. Morgan Cardwell and Jennifer Aceves both also served 100 percent.

Jennifer Aceves led the Indians (2-5 overall, 1-3 in SE1B play) with six digs and Harlie Schaeffer collected five assists.

Pomeroy goes to Asotin Saturday, and the Indians head to Rosalia Tuesday.
