Harvest Foods to support BMAC

On the heels of the Walla Walla Realtors Care & Share Food Drive, a local grocery store is hoping to add to the bounty.

Walla Walla’s Harvest Foods will launch a campaign next month to help keep the shelves at the Blue Mountain Action Council Food Bank full.

“Yes We Can, One Can at a Time” will be a food drive based on the premise that if every household in Walla Walla contributes just one can, those in need could be sustained much longer.

Starting in November, the Southgate store, 905 S. Second Ave., will accept donations from those who can share, said Harvest Foods owner Nolan Lockwood. The food drive will continue through the end of the year. Deliveries will be made to the food bank weekly.

Downtown Walla Walla’s cupcake shop is celebrating Halloween with a Spooky Sprinkle Party.

Frosted, 7 S. First Ave., will host its second Halloween cupcake decorating event Sunday.

The event runs 2-5 p.m. Participants are asked to sign up for a slot at the top of every hour.

The price is $20 and includes a four-pack box of cupcakes to decorate and take home; a cupcake demonstration from Frosted; and a Hot Chocolate Bar.

Adults must be present for those 8 and younger. There is no charge for adults except for those who are planning to decorate their own box of cupcakes. Costumes are welcome. For more details, call 525-2434.

Olive Marketplace & Cafe will launch the annual Barrel Full of Money Fundrasier this week.

Guests at Olive can help “fill the barrel,” an actual wine barrel, for donations to the Blue Mountain Action Council. The funds help stock the local food banks.

The fundraiser kicks off Thursday, 5-7 p.m., at Olive, 21 E. Main St. Live music will be performed by Jeremy Serwer. Wine tasting with Dunham Cellars will be offered that evening. The event also features raffle drawings with prizes. Special menu items, along with the barrel, will be available through Dec. 16, with proceeds going to the cause.
