DAYTON — Weston-McEwen tuned up for the district championship match Saturday with a three-set non-league win over Dayton here Wednesday.
The TigerScots won 25-12, 25-13, 25-16.
“It was very entertaining,” W-M coach Shawn White said. “Dayton is a very well coached. We played great, it was definitely a good test for us.”
Molly vonBorstel had 19 kills and nine digs for the TigerScots, Taryn Coffman dished out 28 assists and had three kills, and Taylor Rudolph had six assists and was 14-of-14 serving.
Lacey Kuehn and Keegan Shepard had four kills apiece and Betsy West had five kills and seven blocks.
Melanie Sederburg had six kills and eight blocks, Dannie Dearing picked up 12 digs, Madison Carlin had two digs, Melina Baker nailed three aces, and Natalie Arnold had 11 digs and was 16-for-16 serving with four aces.
“Our offense ran very well,” White said. “We’re starting to peak for the playoffs. I’m very pleased with what they’re doing right now.
“Last night was closer than the scores indicated,” he said. “It was a very entertaining match.”
The TigerScots play the winner of the Nos. 2-3 seed to district, Union and Heppner, at about 5 p.m. Saturday in Union for the district title.
