W-P soccer team finishes unbeaten in league play


MOSES LAKE — Waitsburg-Prescott’s soccer team finished its regular season schedule with a 4-1 victory over Moses Lake Christian here Monday.

Alberto Mendez opened W-P’s scoring with an unassisted goal in the 25th minute, followed by Tyler Fedderson’s score off an assist by Christian Caro 10 minutes later.

Ivan Figueroa took Jose Paniagua’s ball and put it in the net in the 45th minute, and Roger Gonzalez rounded out W-P’s scoring in the 47th minute.

Moses Lake Christian scored its goal in the 75th minute.

“It was another game where everybody got to play,” W-P assistant coach Jay Potts said. “It was the last game of the regular season, it was a good way to end it.”

W-P, 12-4 overall and 4-0 in District 9 play, heads to Connell to play Northport Academy at 1 p.m. Saturday in a subdistrict playoff match.

“We feel like we’re ready for the playoffs,” Potts said.
