Rather than celebrating its first anniversary, downtown deli Red Reina Cuisine & Delicatessen is closing its doors.
The Walla Walla business known for its deli, café and catering services at 202 E. Main St. was shuttered.
According to a post on the door of the business and on the operation’s Facebook page, Red Reina closed last Friday “Our deepest, abiding gratitude goes out to our loyal customers, including our catering clients, and our fabulous staff who shared in this exciting adventure! It has been our delight to bring new and different foods to the community and to inspire people to eat healthy, dynamic, local foods prepared entirely from scratch. We are grateful for the love and enthusiasm that you have shown us and we will miss you all!” the Facebook post read.
Owner Heidi Peterson said this morning she will take some time to regroup and determine whether to continue as a catering service.
The business opened a year ago after an extensive remodel in the longtime site of Computer Resources. It promised local produce from the Walla Walla Valley and a focus on creative, wholesome, clean food.
