BOARDMAN, Ore. — Mac-Hi’s volleyball team played in the Riverside Tournament here Saturday, dropping three pool-play matches and a bracket match.
The Pioneers fell to Imbler 20-10, 20-8; Riverside 20-13, 20-17; and Stanfield 20-15, 20-12 in pool play to finish fourth in their pool, and then fell to Umatilla, 25-14, 25-17 in bracket play.
“The girls played better than they have been,” Mac-Hi coach Kaila Rodighiero said. “I think they are starting to read each other better and figure out their (opponents) players’ next moves. My front row is doing well on the net, and I have only one returning front row player from last year.”
Makayla Kelly, who is up from the Pioneers’ junior varsity squad, was 11-for-11 serving with an ace and three assists against Umatilla.
Amanda Rhoads had three kills, Brooke Kralman had five digs and Yessica Gomez with four digs.
Mac-Hi next hosts Riverside at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
