WAITSBURG — Touchet’s volleyball team went 2-3 at the Waitsburg-Prescott Invitational here Saturday.
“We needed this tournament,” Indians coach April Miller said. “We were able to work on tightening up our transitions and on our communication throughout the day. They girls played hard. This is a group that will just not give up, and I’m happy with their drive to continually improve and better their team culture.”
Touchet participated in the tournament with W-P, Colfax’s JV, Mac-Hi, DeSales and Wa-Hi’s JV squad.
Morgan Cardwell was 27-for-27 serving on the day with three aces and 23 digs for the Indians.
Harlie Schaeffer had 28 assists and 27 digs, and Cierra Jo McKeown led Touchet with 37 kills and five stuffs.
“Our senior setter, Harlie Schaeffer, continues to inspire, especially with her sacrificial team play,” Miller said. “She is working hard to put those sets up right where her hitters like them.
“Cierra Jo McKeown found her swing today, and was smashing the ball consistently by the end of the day,” she said. “Everyone on this team brings their game to make the big plays happen. I am proud of all of them.”
Touchet, 2-6 overall, plays at DeSales at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
