MILTON-FREEWATER — The McLoughlin High volleyball team lost in straight sets to La Grande, 25-17, 25-6, 25-11 on Tuesday.
Mac-Hi head coach Kaila Rodighiero credited her team for competing throughout the match.
“My girls were intense,” Rodighiero said. “(They) did most of the small things right and I can see us coming along even more. There’s so much evident improvement since the beginning of the season and I’m so proud.”
Lexxy Shelton finished 9-of-9 serving and added two aces for Mac-Hi.
Jessica Dodd and Amanda Rhoads added five combined kills, but the Pioneers could not keep up with La Grande.
Rodighiero said the team had trouble handling La Grande’s serving in the second set, which helped propel the Tigers to the straight-set win.
Mac-Hi next hosts Baker at 4 p.m. on Tuesday.
