Injury-hampered Touchet struggles at TC Prep Invite


KENNEWICK — The Touchet Indians volleyball team fell onto hard times at the Tri-City Prep Invitational here Saturday in their second tournament of the season.

The Indians lost to host Tri-City Prep, 25-21 and 25-21 before beating Bickelton 25-17, 25-10.

Next Touchet ran into a couple of injuries to two of their key players — Cierra Jo McKeown and Rachel Miller.

McKeown finished with 23 kills and 13 assists before exiting early.

Miller finished with eight blocks and nine digs.

“Everyone played well in the first two games,” Touchet coach April Miller said. “Then we had a couple of injuries and kind of fell apart. Hopefully, with a little rest and ice we will be OK.”

Jennifer Aceves went 29-for-29 serving with two aces and 14 digs.

Harley Schaeffer had 18 assists.

Touchet lost to Burbank 25-13 and 25-23 before falling to Sunnyside Christian, 25-16 and 25-14.

The Indians are 1-2 and 0-1 in league.

Touchet will play again Thursday in Touchet against Riverview (Kennewick) at 5 p.m.
